Sixteen-year-old Jacob Mercer stands on a railway platform in Bay Roberts, Newfoundland in 1924. Jacob has had a violent fight with his father, Esau, and has decided to take the next train out of town. Six years earlier, Esau Mercer returned from the Great War a damaged man, never able to speak of his time in the trenches. When Esau arrives at the station in an attempt to stop Jacob from leaving, the boy seizes the opportunity to help his father heal himself. Jacob agrees to stay – if his father will speak about the War. Neither of them are prepared for what happens when Esau finally gives his devastating and unsparing account of what happened on the day that the Newfoundland Regiment was wiped out. This quintessential Canadian Post-war drama comes from one of Canada’s most celebrated playwrights.

Rescheduled – Coming in October 2018… The Liverpool 4

THE LIVERPOOL 4

Performance: Rescheduled to Saturday, October 27 – 8pm

Presented by Ultimate Artists Live

The Beatles were an English rock band formed in Liverpool in 1960. With members John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr, they became widely regarded as the foremost and most influential music band. In 1963 their enormous popularity first emerged as “Beatlemania”; as the group’s music grew in sophistication, led by primary songwriters Lennon and McCartney, the band were integral to pop music’s evolution into an art form and to the development of the counterculture of the 1960s.

The Beatles built their reputation playing clubs in Liverpool and Hamburg. Manager Brian Epstein molded them into a professional act, and producer George Martin guided and developed their recordings, greatly expanding the group’s popularity in the United Kingdom after their first hit, “Love Me Do”, in late 1962. They acquired the nickname “the Fab Four” as Beatlemania grew in Britain over the next year, and by early 1964 became international stars, leading the “British Invasion” of the United States pop market.

Join Ultimate Artists Live and Liverpool 4 as they revisit those iconic years of early rock ‘n’ roll.

Ultimate Artists Live is presenting The British Invasion – tributes to 3 of the greatest rock bands to come out of Great Britain. Led Zeppelin were an English rock band formed in London in 1968. The band’s heavy, guitar-driven sound, rooted in blues and psychedelia on their early albums, has earned them recognition as one of the progenitors of heavy metal, though their unique style drew from a wide variety of influences, including folk music.

Although the group was initially unpopular with critics, they achieved significant commercial success with albums such as Led Zeppelin(1969), Led Zeppelin II(1969), Led Zeppelin III(1970), their untitled fourth album (1971), Houses of the Holy(1973), and Physical Graffiti(1975). Their fourth album, which features the track “Stairway to Heaven”, is among the most popular and influential works in rock music, and it helped to secure the group’s popularity. They are one of the best-selling music artists in the history of audio recording; various sources estimate the group’s record sales at close to 300 million units worldwide.

The musicians in ZED provide the closest tribute to Led Zeppelin with their attention to detail.
